Meet the Real Estate Tech Founder: Amanda Xie from AgentonDuty

In our latest real estate tech entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Amanda Xie from AgentonDuty.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Amanda Xie. I am the founder of AGENTONDUTY app which was just launched a couple of weeks ago in the app store and google play. I am also a licensed realtor based in Toronto Canada, a member of NAR, CREA, OREA, and TRREB.

What problem does your product/service solve?

This App is to connect a potential client to a nearby agent on duty.

It is a referral platform for agents (real estate agents and mortgage agents) to receive free, unlimited leads. Agents pay a very low referral fee only when a transaction is closed. The App brings all the brick and mortar offices Duty Roster online so the agents can be on duty on their phone anywhere they like, whenever they prefer. There will be no more duty roster to fill in.

For clients, it provides an instant connection to an agent around them to get a free consultation of local market or ask any questions they have. there is a free text feature in the App for them to chat, or they can choose other ways to “meet” – call or video or in person. Think about a scenario: a person walks into a real estate office who is thinking of buying or selling and wants to speak to a realtor. the App is built based on the user phones’s geolocation, it chooses the closest agent to connect with the client. so the client knows the agent they get connected with is very close to them, also means the agent is local. If we have more agents on duty around the globe, I won’t be surprised to see the client and agent may happen to be in the same coffee shop–or even live next door with each other.

What are you most excited about right now?

I am very excited to see the App is real now. it was just a dream last year. it took many sleepless nights and a dedicated tech team to make it happen finally.

What’s next for you?

More downloads, more users. I want AGENTONDUTY to become a household name when they think about real estate transactions.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

The passion behind building the AGENTONDUTY app is because I care about my fellow agents including myself. Being a realtor of 20 years, I know agents wake up every morning to look for a job. We don’t have a job until we have leads. I know how critical it is to have steady leads, especially for a new agent. I have been operating out of my own satellite office for more than a decade, the only reason to set up my own satellite office is to have duty floor time to myself so I can have all the leads. I was fortunate to have the financial ability to do so, which took my business to another level. To a point that I couldn’t take all the walk-ins and I had to refer those leads out to other agents in my office which I still do. Now with the help of technology, I want to transform the brick and mortar offices online so all agents can benefit from what I have achieved without the expense of getting their own real estate office or be on duty in their offices. That is why I called this App a virtual office for an agent. It makes me feel good that I can gain something by sharing the App based on my own experience.
