Meet the Real Estate Tech Founder: Alex Doubet from Door

In our latest real estate tech entrepreneur interview, we’re speaking with Alex Doubet from Door.

Without further ado…

What do you do?

I’m Alex Doubet, Founder & CEO of Door, Inc.  Door is a smarter approach to buying, selling, and living with your home.  We’ve combined a next-generation real estate brokerage with mortgage, title, and great technology to give clients the experience they want and millions of dollars back to them in reduced commissions and cash back. We operate in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio; and our client transactions have increased over 700% since we started. The best part is: our Net Promoter Score is nearly 200% higher than that of the typical national brokerage. 

What problem does your product/service solve?

It is too hard, too complicated, and far too expensive to buy or sell your home. Few people are ready to buy or sell their house with an app, so Door combines an innovative operating model with elite agents and the right technology to improve service and reduce costs associated with transacting a home. Door clients keep far more of their home equity and have a much better experience through the process. 

What are you most excited about right now?

We’ve created some fantastic tools for our agents, so they spend more time with their clients on important items and not rudimentary forms and tasks.  And because our agents are employees, we return all that benefit to the client through better service and reduced service costs.

What’s next for you?

Continued product innovation for our clients that improves their experience, including a new seller experience and the first Door mobile app. Later in 2019 we begin our national expansion.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

I love helping entrepreneurs who are earlier in the life cycle of their company than I am. There is a lot to learn as you launch a company, and I don’t think you can really understand how to do it until you’re “in the trenches.” I’m a big believer in the power of random connections–I’ll get a coffee or lunch with anybody who asks—because you never know what you are going to learn or what connection you’ll make. It’s because of a couple random lunches in 2016 that Door ended up being featured on the cover of The Dallas Morning News in mid-016, thereby kickstarting the company.
